Spearheading Sustainability III – The White Light

The White Light

Green is the color usually associated with all things environment friendly. But then our Earth is a beautiful kaleidoscope of colors – the green cover, the azure blue water bodies, the infinite hues of flora and fauna, and white is where all colors culminate. The White Light takes sustainable living that extra mile and is a forerunner in everything that preserves the true colors of nature.

They are a young team, having been founded in mid 2011 and led by Purnima Gupta, with a vision to connect the producers of these eco-friendly artifacts to the demand in the market. Philanthropy forms the very grain of their operations; they have uplifted the lives of people on the fringes of society – such as those who are differently-abled and rural women. They not only use organic material, but also reuse waste. The entire production chain adds value at every step.

They don an innovator’s hat at times and come up with unique combinations of materials. Take the case of Tapool; it is a remarkable blend of wool and – hold your breath – audio-visual tapes! There is a sister material Taperic – made of audio visual tapes and fabric. The beauty of it has to be seen to be believed:

They have a host of other delightful little products you’d never imagine were made from such raw material. For example, the coasters made of discarded fabric or the agarbatti (incense stick) stand made of reclaimed wood and wooden beads or even the lovely diya whose base is a compact disc!

Their latest offering is eco-friendly stationery (pens) that are made to order. They continue to cater to consumer needs yet maintain that delicate balance in Nature!

About the author

Vidya Gupta

Mother to three lovely boys and wife of a banking professional, I am extremely passionate about a host of topics, bags being one of them. For the record, the others are - makeup, travel, photography, in no particular order. Here I share my perspective on the Indian as well as the international bag-scene. As a youngster I would spend most of my money on bags and carry one according to my outfit. It is this love that I express through this blog. Needless to say, any suggestions for improvement, even healthy criticisms, are highly encouraged. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find something useful to help you on your next bag purchase!
