Recently, I stumbled upon handbags by Murcia at Myntra. Murcia is the accessory and footwear arm of Kalpana Kraft; its items are conceptualized and created by NIFT designers, Delhi. Now that speaks something about the quality and variety in designs we can expect. The ones I found on Myntra were really impressive in terms of the colors and silhouettes. The prices are competitively priced and mostly below INR 2,000. The material they use in synthetic leather. You’d see that the color palette of their bags has many vibrant hues in it; presenting below 3 of my favorites.
First up is this red bag with a laser cut silver design façade and subtle gussets on the bottom. The bag is replete with multiple storage sections including two small ones on the sides, one central zipper, an inner zippered divider, mobile pouch and a smaller zippered section on one of the sides. There is another zip pouch on the exterior at the back. This bag is available in two other colors – blue and orange.
The Pink Jane Printed bag has paisley panels on the sides, one short handle that can be used when the front flap is extended for extra storage space, and a long shoulder strap. The braided detail on the shorter handle is an elegant piece of work. It has an exterior pocket at the back and silver metallic hardware. It has one main central compartment, an inner zipped pocket and mobile pouch. There an interesting variation of this bag – black with reddish-orange printed panels.
The recent ‘camouflage’ trend gets a colourful makeover in the next bag. With golden hardware, orange trims, bangle-type round handles, a longer shoulder strap and ornamental zip heads, this is a really cool bag and can add that pop of color to otherwise mundane outfits. The storage space is decent, with an exterior zipped pocket, two side pockets, inner pouches, an inner zipped pocket and a zipped separator creating an open pouch.
Myntra has a good collection of Murcia bags. You can check out their FB page. An interesting feature of their page is the tips they give on how to care for bags in general, under the name ‘Bagwati Tips’. They have a wide array of bags, check it out for yourself! The Indian bag market is opening up to new bag makers and the end consumers are only too happy to welcome them!
